Rock and Read: Reflecting Community Culture customizes our Rock and Read model into a parent-child program that shares culture, teachings and resources from Aboriginal communities. Parents participate in bookmaking and other activities for their children using various cultural, contemporary and literacy-based ideas. The children’s time ties in rhymes, books and cultural aspects of the program through the use of games, art and play activities. All activities are family focused and accessible, while the learning and knowledge behind them can be built upon by partnering with community members and knowledge keepers.
